Post-Operative Instructions

Follow these care instructions to ensure a smooth recovery after your oral surgery procedure.

Important

These instructions are general guidelines. Dr Truong will provide you with specific instructions tailored to your procedure during your appointment. If there are any differences, follow the specific instructions given to you.

Some discomfort, swelling, and minor bleeding are normal after oral surgery. However, if you have concerns about your recovery, please don't hesitate to contact us.

Bite on Gauze: Keep the gauze pad placed over the surgical area in your mouth for 30-45 minutes after surgery. Apply firm, constant pressure by biting down. If bleeding continues, replace with a fresh gauze pad and bite down for another 30 minutes.

Rest: Take it easy for the remainder of the day. Avoid strenuous activity, bending over, or heavy lifting for 48-72 hours, as this can increase bleeding and swelling.

Ice Packs: Apply ice packs to the outside of your face for 20 minutes on, 20 minutes off during the first 24 hours. This helps minimise swelling and discomfort.

Head Elevation: Keep your head elevated (including during sleep) for the first few nights to help reduce swelling.
